American Rivers is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting and restoring rivers nationwide. Founded over 25 years ago in a dusty Denver office, today we have offices in Washington, DC and across the country.

Salmon Forever is a non-profit organization whose goal is to conduct research on issues pertaining to watersheds and salmon; to promote the importance of watershed health; and to educate citizens so they can effectively participate in public decision-making that affects the communities and watersheds in which they live.

River Network's Mission is to help people understand, protect and restore rivers and their watersheds. We envision a nation whose rivers are cared for by those who use them and live in their watershed. Our constituency is comprised of grassroots river and watershed conservation organizations, public agencies, tribal governments and coalitions, and other working to save freshwater ecosystems.

The California League of Conservation Voters is the non-partisan political action arm of California's environmental movement. CLCV's mission is to protect the environmental quality of the state by increasing public awareness of the environmental performance of all elected officials, working to elect environmentally responsible candidates, and holding them accountable to the environmental agenda once elected.

Originally formed in 1965 in the east bay region, the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals with a common interest in California's native plants. The Society, working through its local chapters, seeks to increase understanding of California's native flora and to preserve this rich resource for future generations. Membership is open to all. Our members have diverse interests including natural history, botany, ecology, conservation, photography, drawing, hiking, and gardening.

Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment. We bring about far-reaching change by enforcing and strengthening environmental laws on behalf of hundreds of organizations and communities.

The mission of the National Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. Founded in 1905, the National Audubon Society is named for John James Audubon (1785-1851), famed ornithologist, explorer, and wildlife artist.

The mission of Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

The Natural Resources Defense Council's purpose is to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.

The Wilderness Society works to protect America\'s Wilderness since 1935 through the potent combination of science, advocacy and education. The mission is to deliver to future generations an unspoiled legacy of wild places, with all the precious values they hold: biological diversity; clean air and water; towering forests, rushing rivers, and sage-sweet, silent deserts.

The Sierra Club mission and purpose is to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the Earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the Earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.

The mission of the Department of Fish and Game is to manage California's diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources, and the habitats upon which they depend, for their ecological values and for their use and enjoyment by the public.

The Department of Fish and Game maintains native fish, wildlife, plant species and natural communities for their intrinsic and ecological value and their benefits to people. This includes habitat protection and maintenance in a sufficient amount and quality to ensure the survival of all species and natural communities. The department is also responsible for the diversified use of fish and wildlife including recreational, commercial, scientific and educational uses.

The Salmonid Restoration Federation (SRF) was formed in 1986 to help stream restoration practitioners advance the art and science of restoration. SRF promotes restoration, stewardship, and recovery of California native salmon, steelhead and trout populations through education, collaboration, and advocacy.

SYRCL is founded on the premise that people can save a river.
The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL – pronounced circle) was founded in 1983 by grassroots activists determined to protect the South Yuba River from dams. Ultimately, SYRCL won permanent protections for 39 miles of the South Yuba River under California’s Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
