The Trout Spot

  • Fishing Report for October 8th

    The Trout Spot - Fishing Reports Oct 8, 2016 | 17:34 pm

As the season winds down, fishing is still good in Calaveras & Alpine counties.  Heenan Lake is still fishing great as well as Lake Alpine.  The fish are trying to fatten up before winter.  Prince Nymphs, Copper Johns and Buggers are working on either lake.  Make sure to bring plenty of warm clothing as it is cold in the mornings.Still good numbers of fish being caught on the Stanislaus River on dries and dry droppers.  Wait for it to warm up in the afternoons and the bite is on!The East Fork of the Carson has been planted pretty heavily in the last couple of weeks, plenty of fish still to be caught, stripping streamers and on hopper patterns.
